I have recently completed the ‘Lotus Suite’, a three movement suite of orchestral music I’ve written which will be premiered March 18 in Taper Auditorium at Benaroya Hall here in Seattle. The music will be performed by a 40 piece orchestra comprised of Seattle’s finest players, and conducted by Grammy award winner David Sabee.
This is a charity concert organized by Tim Huling of the Composition Lab and Glenna Burmer of BurmerMusic in order to assist in the restoration of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, which was devastated by the earthquake in March 11, 2011. The dedicated musicians of the Sendai Philharmonic have performed more than 200 concerts on street corners and in shelters to boost the spirits of the disaster survivors. This concert is a way for “musicians and music lovers to help fellow musicians.”
Tickets to the event can be purchased through the Benaroya Hall ticket office (www.benaroyahall.org), and donations for the Sendai Philharmonic are being collected by the Music Center of the Northwest Sendai Philharmonic Relief Fund (www.mcnw.org).
